XD-55 Winch for Drone

XD-55 can be directly connected to a 12S (44V-52V) power battery for power supply, and is suitable for different types of medium and large unmanned helicopters and multi-rotor UAV platforms.

XD-55 supports SBUS, PWM, RS232/RS422, and CAN control, and is compatible with a variety of multi-rotor drone platforms: it can be integrated into a third-party remote control or flight control; it can also be equipped with an independent remote control for independent control.

XD-55 can be equipped with a mechanical release device or an smart auto release device to realize automatic unhooking and automatic stopping when the cargo touches the bottom, realizing the one-button automatic cargo release function. The smart auto release device can realize the air throwing function and monitor the rope tension, swing angle and other functions. The product has automatic cable arrangement and anti-rewinding function design, which effectively solves the problems of winding and rewinding during use.

The XD-55 UAV payload winch system has the functions of retraction and release limit, automatic cable arrangement, automatic unhooking, bottom stop, one-click release, one-click fuse, slow rise to the top, fault alarm, and no-load release prohibition.

(1) Retract and release limit: supports upper and lower limit.

(2) Automatic line arrangement: the reel supports automatic line arrangement.

(3) Automatic unhooking: the unhooking device can automatically unhook when the cargo touches the ground.

(4) Electric control casting: the smart auto release device supports one-button casting.

(5) Ground Stop with Auto Unhook: the rope release automatically and stops when the cargo touches the bottom.

(6) One-click release: supports one-button automatic release.

(7) One-click fuse: emergency one-button rope breaking function.

(8) Slow rise to the top: the cable rises slowly before reaching the top.

(9) Fault alarm: motor failure, the indicator light flashes yellow.

(10) No-load release prohibition: when there is no load, the descent command will be stopped after it is triggered to prevent the cable from being entangled when it is released without load.

• ·  55 Kg capacity winch with SBUS control: The winch comes with SBUS control as a standard option, providing seamless integration with mainstream RC and flight control systems. It ensures precise position management and reliable release logic.

• ·  55 Kg capacity winch with RS232 control: Available with RS232 control (optional), it supports direct communication with traditional serial devices and ground control systems. This makes it ideal for telemetry, remote operation, and data feedback, and it can serve as a key channel for ground station development.

• ·  55 Kg capacity winch with RS422 control: Supports RS422 control (RS232/RS422 optional) for more stable long-distance and interference-resistant communication. It is well-suited for professional ground station integration and industrial applications requiring robust data links.

• ·  55 Kg capacity winch with TTL control: For embedded solutions requiring low-voltage serial interfaces, TTL control (customizable via level shifter/adapter) is available. This allows direct connection with single-board computers, embedded controllers, or custom modules. Please specify voltage levels and interface requirements when placing an order.

• ·  55 Kg capacity winch for ground station development: The XD-55 is an excellent choice for ground station development, supporting multiple interface options (RS232/RS422/CAN, PWM, SBUS, remote control). Communication protocol documentation, frame format, and sample code can be provided to help development teams quickly integrate ground control, status monitoring, and mission automation. SDKs and protocol documentation are available upon request.

Technical Notes

• Interface voltage levels, pin definitions, and protocol frames can be customized. For best compatibility and reliability, please specify the target flight controller or ground station system during ordering.

• For long-distance ground station communication, RS422 or CAN Bus is recommended for better anti-interference performance.

TIPs:

1. When using SBUS or PWM control, after executing the one-touch lift or one-touch cargo release function, promptly return the button to the neutral position.

2. During ground testing of the one-touch cargo release, ensure the test height is greater than 1.5 meters.

3. For heavy lifting tests, when using the standard 30m rope, ensure that no more than 3 meters remain inside the winch. This prevents the rope from being compressed onto the inner spool layers under excessive load.

4. The outer shell has been upgraded to a high-strength molded housing, enhancing durability and wear resistance.

5. The fuse-break battery is now built-in and supports automatic recharging. Avoid using the emergency rope-cut function unless absolutely necessary.

Customized development

The XD-55 drone payload winch system supports third-party customized development and can be integrated into third-party drone ground or remote controllers. The following functions can be developed through the protocol:

(1) Real-time information display: retractable rope length, retractable speed, power supply voltage, motor current, fuse battery voltage value, cumulative rope length used, cumulative fuse times, cumulative overload times, equipment working status; rope swing angle, rope swing heading, rope swing frequency, etc.

(2) Setting the fixed rope length for lowering/ascending: The lowering or ascension rope length can be set, and lowering/ascending can be performed with one-click.

(3) Setting the motor retractable speed: The lowering or ascension motor speed can be set.
